Home/How It Works

How it works

Two ways to order.

If it’s in the shop with a price on it, you can order it right now. If it’s custom, unusual, your own item, or a big run, we’ll quote it first. Either way, you approve a proof before anything is engraved.

Customize & Order

Shop products with set prices

Coasters, tumblers and anything else listed in the shop with a price. Customise it online, add it to your cart, send it through.

You don’t pay on the website. We make your order first, then get in touch. Payment is arranged directly once it’s finished and before you take it home — we never ask for card details online.

04 — PROOF

We contact you when it's finished. Payment is made before your order is handed over.

Request a Quote

Custom work, priced individually

Pay, then pick up

Payment once it is finished, then free local pickup in Bow Island or shipping quoted separately.

Bulk Quote

Bulk & business orders

Bulk is the one exception to “pay when it’s finished”, because the materials have to be bought in specially for your run.

Once you approve the quote, a 50% deposit is required. Materials are ordered after the deposit and can take roughly 2–3 months to arrive. Once they land, production is generally finished within one business week.

Turnaround

How long it usually takes.

All estimates rather than guarantees — how detailed the engraving is and whether the material is on the shelf both move the date around. You’ll get a realistic one with your quote.

In-stock materials

About 1–2 days

If the material is already here, most jobs are engraved within a day or two, depending on how complex the design is.

Out-of-stock materials

Up to a week,
then 1–2 days

If we need to order the material in, it usually takes up to a week to arrive. Engraving follows in roughly one to two days after that.

Bulk orders

2–3 months for materials

Materials are ordered after the 50% deposit and can take around two to three months to arrive. Production is generally finished within one business week after that.

Common questions

The things people ask.

How do I know whether to buy or ask for a quote?

If it’s in the shop with a price, you can customise it and order it yourself. If you want something that isn’t listed, you’re bringing your own item, or you need a large run, request a quote instead.

Still not sure? Ask for a quote. It costs nothing and we’ll point you the right way.

Why does a “starting at” price change?

The starting price covers straightforward engraving on that item. Very detailed artwork, photo engraving, engraving on multiple sides or an unusually large design take more time on the machine, so they can cost more.

We always confirm the final number with you before anything is cut. Nothing is a surprise on the invoice.

Can I choose the font?

Yes. We can work with most fonts on Google Fonts — have a browse and give us up to three you like, in order of preference. We’ll confirm the final one with you on the proof.

If fonts aren’t your thing, leave it to us and we’ll match the style to the piece.

Do I have to have artwork ready?

No. A phone photo of a sketch, a screenshot, a handwritten note — we work with whatever you’ve got and clean it up for the laser at no charge.

Can you engrave something I already own?

Often, yes — tools, knives, coolers, guitars, heirlooms. Send a photo of the item and where you want the mark and we’ll tell you honestly whether the material will take an engraving before you hand it over.

When and how do I pay?

For shop orders and one-off custom work, you pay after your order is made. We finish it, get in touch, and payment is settled before the finished piece is handed over. Nothing is charged on this website and we never ask for card details online.

Bulk orders are the exception. Once you approve a bulk quote, a 50% deposit is required before materials are ordered, with the balance on completion.

Is tax added to my order?

No tax is added to orders at the moment, so the total you see is the total we’re working from.

Do you ship?

Local pickup in Bow Island is free and is how most orders go out. Shipping can be arranged, but our customers so far have all been local, so we haven’t set standard rates — shipping is quoted separately once we know where it’s going, and it’s never added to your total automatically.

How big can the engraving be?

The maximum design area is about 4.53″ × 4.53″ (115 mm × 115 mm). If your design is bigger than that, send it over anyway and we’ll tell you how it can be adapted.

Is there a setup fee?

Sometimes. Brand-new artwork — a new logo, a new file, a new layout — takes real setup time, so a one-time setup charge can apply. Repeat designs we already have on file, and straightforward text or name engraving, generally don’t need it.

If it applies to your job it’s included in the quote you approve. No surprise line items afterwards.

Do you do discounts on larger orders?

Volume pricing is available on larger runs. How it works depends on the product and the quantity, so the honest answer is to ask for a bulk quote and we’ll price your actual order.

When will I hear back?

Rosse Engraving is owner-operated, so texts and emails are answered after school hours and on weekends. Texting is the fastest way to reach us.

Still deciding?

Just ask — it’s free.

Send a photo and a sentence about what you want. We’ll tell you what it takes and what it costs.
